Manga – Have you ever read one??

To my relatively nascent blog, I have only added posts for the so called ‘specialized’ audience. The other day, someone claimed that the blog was ‘B-O-R-I-N-G’. Well, I know one thing for sure – my posts until now haven’t been for everyone. Hell, most people I know don’t know the first thing about Linux, let alone do some scripting in it.

So, here I am again with a topic that, I believe, at least some of you might be interested to read. Today, I’ll talk a bit about manga. I know many of you have been reading mangas for a long time. But then, there are many, who, at the mention of a manga, make a face that resembles feces of a horse ( if you know what I mean 😛 ).

So, then, what are mangas? Mangas are traditional Japanese comic books. Now, don’t be scared shitless just because you heard that they are Japanese. In fact, almost all the manga are translated to English.

Now about story. Unlike our comic books ( Raj Comics for example), manga are usually much more story oriented.  There are no random plots. Instead, there is a continuous story. As a matter of fact, a good, addictive story lies at the heart of any great manga. Anyway, I’ll give you a couple of reasons why you can (and should) read mangas:

• Absolutely free. Go an see for yourself here.
• The good mangas make for a great story. It’s almost like reading a novel.
• Released weekly. Most of the mangas are released every week so you can have your fill every week without having to wait long.
• You get to know more about the Japanese culture (it’s not bad to ‘increase your knowledge’  ~_~)
• Also, there are a load of good mangas out there. You can generally find a manga for every taste.
• Because I say so 😛

I remember I didn’t use to read any mangas until I was in 9th grade. I don’t quite remember what got me started but I have been reading ever since – sometimes more frequently than others. Anyway, to get you started, I’ll list a couple of good mangas to start reading:

1. Fullmetal Alchemist

2. Death Note

3. One Piece

4. Tower of God

5. The Breaker

Okay. So, these should get you started, in case you want to read that is. Just so you know, this isn’t any kind of ‘the best manga’ list. It’s not that they aren’t good just because they aren’t the best. Certainly, these manga are very good. But, then again, these were just the few of the mangas that came off the top of my head at the moment. Read these. You see, everyone has their own taste. There is a lot of great manga out there with some great story-lines. Read more and discover yourself 🙂
